The annual federal Research Security Training requirement is now fully integrated with Cayuse SP, making it easy for users to verify completion directly within the Cayuse SP system.
How to Verify Training Completion in Cayuse SP
Log in to Cayuse SP.
Go to the Admin tab.
Search by the individual’s name.
Select Trainings and Certifications to view all completed trainings.
Implementation Dates of the Research Security Training Requirement by Federal Agency
The following federal agencies are implementing this requirement in line with the below implementation dates.
Department of Energy (DOE): May 1, 2025
National Institutes of Health (NIH): October 1, 2025
National Science Foundation (NSF): October 10, 2025
Who Must Complete the Training
This training is required for all covered individuals on proposals and awards of federal agencies who have implemented the requirement. Covered individuals include personnel who contribute in a substantive and meaningful way to the development or execution of a project’s scope. At a minimum, this includes all Senior/Key Personnel, such as the Principal Investigator/Project Director(s) and Co-Principal Investigator/Project Director(s).
When Training Must Be Completed
New Proposals: Training must be up to date for all covered personnel prior to proposal submission to agencies that have implemented the requirement.
Active Awards: Training must be up to date for all covered personnel prior to award set-up of awards from agencies that have implemented the requirement and annually thereafter for the duration of the project.
