The Department of Contracts and Grants is proud to announce MicroLearning Mondays — a biweekly series of bite-sized research administration trainings.
Every other Monday, you’ll receive a short, 5–10 minute video focused on a key research administration topic—such as carryforward, cost sharing, prior approval, effort reporting, and more. Each video will deliver clear, practical guidance you can apply right away in your research endeavors at USC.
💡 Here’s What to Expect:
- A new, focused topic every other week.
- 5–10 minute video you can watch at your convenience.
- Links to helpful resources, policies, and job aids.
📚 What You’ll Learn:
Each MicroLearning Monday video breaks down the who, what, where, when, and why of a specific research administration topic. You’ll gain a clear understanding of:
- What the topic is and why it matters.
- Who is responsible or affected.
- When certain actions or approvals are required.
- Where to find relevant policies, systems, or documentation.
- Why it’s important for effective grant management.
🎥 Kicking Things Off: Carryforwards
Our first MicroLearning Monday video is here! This 5-minute training will explain what carryforward means in the context of sponsored research, when sponsor approval is needed, and how USC handles requests and documentation.
