NSF Implementation of Recent Executive Orders

January 30, 2025

The National Science Foundation (NSF) has issued agency-wide guidance in response to recent executive orders, which can be found at whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions.

Key points from the guidance include:

  • NSF is reviewing awards to identify any that are not in compliance with the recent executive orders.
  • Principal Investigators and research teams must immediately cease any non-compliant activities. This includes, but is not limited to, conferences, training sessions, workshops, staffing or participant selection, and any other grant-related activities that involve or promote Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) principles, or that may violate federal anti-discrimination laws.
  • NSF frequently asked questions (FAQs) can be found here.

USC will continue to monitor these developments and provide updates as more information becomes available. For additional details and resources, please visit our website. If you need assistance, please contact your DCG Officer.
