Pause on Financial Assistance Programs Blocked by Federal Judge

January 28, 2025

A federal judge has paused the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) directive that called for a temporary freeze on financial assistance programs. The ruling came just minutes before the order was set to take effect at 5 p.m. ET.

Key Updates:

  • The administrative stay expires February 3, 2025, at 5 p.m. ET, pending further court decisions.
  • A temporary restraining order (TRO) hearing is scheduled for Monday morning in Washington, D.C.
  • The ruling only affects previously authorized funding, not new grant applications.
