NHLBI Supplement to the NIH Policy for Data Management and Sharing

National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute

The purpose of this Notice is to announce that the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute Supplement to the NIH Policy for Data Management and Sharing (NHLBI Supplement) is effective May 25, 2023, and replaces the previous NHLBI Policy for Data Sharing from Clinical Trials and Epidemiological Studies. The NHLBI Supplement harmonizes with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Final NIH Policy for Data Management and Sharing (NIH DMS Policy), the latter which became effective on January 25, 2023. 

Updates to Funding Opportunity Terminology

The purpose of this notice is to notify the extramural community that NIH is transitioning to updated terminology regarding funding opportunities to better align with the Uniform Administrative Requirements (Uniform Guidance) as outlined in 2 CFR Part 200. 

Reminder NIH Policies for NRSA Stipends, Compensation and Other Income

(NOT-OD-23-111)

National Institutes of Health

The purpose of this Notice is to remind the extramural community of the policies surrounding stipends, compensation and other income for trainees and fellows supported under Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) grants. 

In accordance with 42 CFR Part 66, NIH provides stipends to NRSA fellows and trainees as a subsistence allowance to help defray living expenses during the research training experience. NIH does not provide stipends as a condition of employment with either the Federal government or the sponsoring institution (See NIH Grants Policy Statement 11.2.9.2 and 11.3.8.2).
