Reference Guides – How to Link an IACUC/IRB Protocol to a Cayuse SP Proposal or Award

February 28, 2023

Announcement: For IRB and IACUC studies funded by a Cayuse SP proposal/award, users will be asked to link their iStar application to the associated Cayuse SP proposal or award record. The linking occurs within iStar and will be required when the user indicates the study will be funded by a sponsored project. Please Note: Industry sponsored clinical trials are excluded from this requirement.

For iStar applications initiated on or after March 1st, the new linking will be required. To minimize the impact and delays on iStar applications currently in development or awaiting IRB or IACUC review, the new linking will not be required.

Attached are quick reference guides on how to link IRB and IACUC applications to Cayuse SP proposals/awards. An announcement and the guides are being distributed to all iStar users. Feel free to forward this communication and guides to anyone preparing or submitting IRB or IACUC applications.

We are excited about the new integration and linking between iStar and Cayuse SP. We expect the linking will improve award processing times by eliminating manual verifications of regulatory approvals.

If you encounter any technical issues with linking your protocol to Cayuse SP, please contact the Research Technology Services Support Desk at istar@usc.edu.

If you would like additional information and training on Cayuse SP, please visit https://dcg.usc.edu/training-resources/ or reach out to Joe Magallanes to schedule a training session.
