DCG Training Program Update

June 3, 2021

Announcement: The Department of Contracts & Grants will be updating The Cardinal & Gold Curriculum and Grants Management Training for Staff program this Friday, September 4, 2020.Both programs will be transitioned from Adobe Flash to HTML5, creating a more seamless experience and removing several technical issues as a result. Additionally, the content presented in both programs has been updated to maintain compliance according to USC and sponsor requirements.

Please Note: As a result of this update, registration for both programs will be unavailable on Friday, September 4, 2020 but will be available again on Monday, September 7, 2020

As a reminder, the Department of Contracts & Grants offers the Cardinal & Gold Curriculum as a valuable training resource for administrative and other support staff working at a program, department or dean’s office level. Housed within Trojan Learn, the University’s online learning platform, the certification program ensures a standard level of expertise among those who support the research infrastructure at USC.

The Cardinal & Gold Curriculum is designed to:

  • clarify the processes that surround sponsored project administration
  • assist staff in the management and oversight of research and other sponsored endeavors at USC
  • provide critical resources to members of the university community

The Cardinal & Gold Curriculum is comprised of 12 courses that range from general and introductory concepts in research administration to USC-specific processes, systems and policies. The program enables participants to earn a certificate demonstrating expertise in the area of research administration. After building core competencies, participants personalize their training by choosing from elective courses geared toward more specific and advanced topics.
