Finding Sources of Support

Grants.gov - the Federal government's portal for finding and submitting proposals in a standard format.

  • The Sponsored Projects Information Network (SPIN) is a computerized database of funding opportunities (federal, private, and corporate), owned and maintained by InfoEd International, Inc., created to assist  faculty and administrators in identifying external financial support for research, education, and development projects.

.

The database is updated daily to incorporate new sources and any changes to existing information. The cost of the subscription is covered by the University, so there is no charge to the person using the service.  It provides for searching by academic discipline, by deadline date, and by key words.

.

Also available in connection with SPIN is a service called SMARTS/GENIUS which allows an individual to create a profile of funding interests and have information based on the profile emailed to him or her daily.  For a short description of and guide to SMARTS/GENIUS, go here.

  • NSF has a customized news service that allows faculty and administrators to request e-mail notifications of various kinds of NSF documents, including program announcements and news releases. It also allows one to choose documents by broad areas of science.

  • The NIH Guide is a weekly National Institutes of Health publication that provides program announcements, requests for applications, and notices.
